September 15, 2023: On Thursday September 14th, Local 1567's members assigned to Group 3's Engine 2 and District 1 responded mutual aid to the Town of Litchfield for a structure fire to operate as the RIT or Rapid Intervention Team as an added safety factor in case of an unpredicted situation on the fire ground that resulted in a firefighter injury. While enroute companies were informed that there was a confirmed fire in a 3 bay attached garage and were requested to respond directly to the scene. Off duty members were called back to maintain fire protection in the city. Members operated on scene for a short time assisting in opening up garage doors and standing by in case of any unpredicted situations. Local 1567's members occasionally respond out of town to assist other local departments for fire incidents when requested to provide additional manpower, apparatus and any other requested services. This is part of a mutual aid agreement with other towns who also respond into the city to assist with larger incidents as well in the same manner.
